Tsinghua held the Competition for Teaching Software Designing of 2012 recently, and Dr. Yu-sung Su took part in the competition as the delegate from Political Science Department. On Dec 18, 2012, Dr. Su made a presentation titled “Arm: Data Analysis Using Multilevel/Hierarchical Regression” at the Defense Meeting of the Teaching Software Designing and was awarded the Second Prize finally.
It is said that this type of software highlighted two important features of the teaching of statistics, i.e. more explicit display of data and its analytical result as well as formal testing with analog instead of digit. Since its being online in 2008, 34 academic articles employing this software have been published all over the world.
